Jane Doe by Victoria Helen Stone was recommended by an author I love so I gave it a shot. I tend to read more paranormal/fantasy books, but I’m so glad I read this. As soon as I finished it I sent a copy to my bestie so we could discuss this amazing book.
Jane is a self-diagnosed sociopath, which seems pretty accurate. After her only friend commits suicide, she makes it her life’s mission to make the person she deems responsible pay. I love books that show the characters thought process. This book was full of it. Jane analyses Steven’s actions constantly and the commentary is pure magic. Also, there was a surprisingly sweet love story in the midst of the sweet, sweet revenge.
I laughed out loud through this whole book, which probably says something about my sense of humor. The knife scenes (yes plural), are hilarious, with a bit of suspense sprinkled in. But nothing tops the messages the congregation receives. I won’t ruin it for you, but I had to stop reading because I was laughing so hard.
Usually, I can take or leave revenge stories, but Jane Doe was gold. I’m going to definitely read more from this author.
