Sorry for the infrequent posts. I’ve been MIA for a while. The day job has been keeping me busy. I’d say that it should chill out towards the end of August, but I feel a change in the winds, so who knows what will happen.
I’m stuck on a scene right now. It’s the same spot I got stuck on when I was plotting. It’s boring, but necessary. So, I’ve got to figure out how to kill the boring and add a little something to make it interesting. If I’m uninterested, I know you guys won’t be interested either. Uninteresting equals books being set on fire, people dancing around the flaming books celebrating its demise… I could probably skip it, move on to the next scene, and go back to it later but it’s broken and I’m in the mood and mindset to fix it today, so I might as well.
I’ve mostly been reading non-fiction books lately, but I did manage to read City of Heavenly Fire and Sixth Grave on the Edge.
I thought City of Heavenly Fire was a great ending for the series. It tied up all the loose ends and it was really heartwarming. It also gave some info for another series that ties into that world that I plan to read. I’m usually sad when series end, but this one was done well. When it’s done well, it isn’t as sad.
As for Sixth grave on the Edge, I dearly love the whole series. Each book is awesome and I anxiously await the next one like a kid on Christmas Eve waiting for Santa. Darynda Jones is one of my favorite authors. The sarcasm and coffee references alone are awesome, but the characters are complex and the story line is so interesting. She does it flawlessly. Can’t wait for the next one, which I saw was coming out October 21st, Seventh Grave and No Body. *Fan girl moment*
Speaking of fan girl moments… the final Hollows book is coming out September! Yes, I said September. Two in one year. (It’s a good year for the series I read.) I have mixed feelings about it. I’m ecstatic to see how it ends, but I kind of don’t want it to end. I’m sure Kim has some other cool worlds to share, but I have a feeling I’m going to miss Rachel and the Hollows gang when it’s all said and done. Thank God for re-reads. ♥
